VAST 2009 opens with the first day (22nd) dedicated to workshops and tutorials. Topics will be announced on the programme section. In the evening a welcome reception will be held at Hastings Gardens, Valletta. This is then followed by a 2.5 days symposium with a social dinner on the evening of the 24th. The venue of this dinner will be the Vilhena Palace in Mdina, which today houses the Museum of Natural History.
